Susie Beard

Hi, I’m Susie! Like most working moms, juggling my schedule and my family’s busy schedule has always been a challenge. In late 2020, I realized I wasn’t prioritizing my health. I had to do something!

Growing up outside of St. Louis, sports were always an active part of my childhood.Ā  I’m the youngest child in my family and the only girl, so if I wanted to hang out with my 3 older brothers, it was playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming, riding bikes, or baseball. I started playing competitive soccer at 10, and that LOVE gave me the opportunity to compete at a collegiate level. I played years at Morehead State in Kentucky, and 2 years at Lindenwood University, where I would also meet my husband David who played on the men’s team.

After I graduated from college in 2003 and moved to Kansas City, I struggled to find a workout routine that I enjoyed and would actually stick with. I joined 24-hour Fitness, but found trying to create my own weights regimen was intimidating and the group fitness classes were just ok. In 2005, I found a love for distance running and joined a girlfriend in running the Rock ā€˜n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego. Over the years, I have completed 10+ Half Marathons. Distance running seemed to be a good fit for me, and I loved long runs outside to clear my head.

When my two daughters were young, I would try to fit in running when I could.Ā  Taking the double BOB stroller and heading out early on the weekends to get 4-5 miles in while they’re content, or running 3 miles as fast as I could before picking them up from daycare, while racing the clock to not be late. While I thought I was prioritizing ā€˜ME’ time, I realize now I was not doing it in the right way.Ā  This mindset led to many injuries (shin splints, plantar fasciitis) that would take me 3 years to fully heal from.Ā  Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

I started TTT in November 2020.Ā  I’d been aware of TTT for the past couple of years but always seemed to find an excuse of why the group times offered/OP location didn’t fit into my busy schedule. I’d been working from home for the past 6 months when I saw a social media post from Angie saying that she now had a South Olathe location. I thought, ā€œThis is it! I can just block my work calendar and make the TTT Olathe group times on Tuesday/Thursday mornings work while the girls are at school.ā€ I quickly signed up for the 10-week special, Angie took my measurements, we set goals, and created a meal plan and workout routine for me.. and I haven’t looked back. It was just the push I needed to start feeling like myself again. I tried a 5:15 am group at the OP location, and I discovered that when I work out in the mornings, I feel great and am more focused to start my day and make better-eating choices! I’ve been able to consistently make TTT part of my weekly schedule and fit 3-5 workouts in most weeks!

2020 was a crazy year! I feel so fortunate that I was able to find TTT and this wonderful community of strong women. From my very first workout, everyone has been nothing but welcoming.Ā  I constantly hear the amazing trainers and ladies pushing me to go faster, choose a heavier weight, get 1 more rep in than last time. TTT is theĀ TEAMĀ I’d been searching for since hanging up my cleats after college. TTT is theĀ TEAM that pushes me to be my best; physically, mentally, and spiritually. The TTT trainers are now theĀ ā€˜Coaches’ that push me to do the hard things because they know that I’m capable.Ā Ā My husband and my girls see the difference too.Ā I’m stronger, happier, and more confident than I have been in years. My only regret is that I didn’t prioritize myself and try TTT years ago.Ā Ā Ā
